  2. PLATES • The crust of the earth looks like they never ever MOVE! • But in fact the plates are moving all the time. • Tectonic plates are huge slabs of rock. The tectonic plates are located at the crust of the earth. • The plates slowly move everyday. They move at about the rate of your fingernails. • In the end the plates crash into each other. This results into the plates breaking away from each other or slipping alongside or under each other.

  3. Sliding • The sliding of the plates are not smooth. • When pressure builds and the plates cannot take anymore, then an earthquake get created. • The most severe damage happens at the the edges of the plates. • The edges provide weak spots which molten rock can push through to create volcanoes.
