Security Concerns • Hostile powers dominating European Continent • Financial Security of the country. • Physical Issues, greatly weakened Britain could not ensure safety or prosperity of her people.
Issues, Values,& Fundamentals • Deprive Britain access to European markets • Endangered sea life lines to the British Empire
Historical Precedents • May 1940-June 1941 • France fell to Germany • Britain stood alone fighting Nazism
Relations between countries • Germany did not like Britain due to all the reparations • French communists inspired propaganda that undermines democratic forces • US had good intentions to spread democracy ( Along with Great Britain) • Soviets despised democracies which caused conflict
Evidence that supports our opinions • U.S and Great Britain had great relations • They were both freedom loving democracies of the world that had to work together to promote there shared values.
Major threat to postwar peace • Soviet Union (communism) takes over countries because Stalin wanted to spread communism. • This would finically destroy Britain because communism would restrict trade through out European markets.
Geography • Island off of Europe • Trade by sea
