During the Upgrade • During the time that Polaris staff was upgrading our servers, we had: • No self-checks – extra staff computers for checkout • No E*vanced – event registration, summer reading access • No Envisionware – public computers available, just not authenticating against Polaris • No Overdrive – downloadable audiobook collection unavailable • No collecting of fines, no renewals – no access to existing patron records • No public catalog, no placing of holds – no access to web catalog – librarians used web catalog on training server for general lookup of possible location Rochester Hills Public Library Polaris Users Group Conference 2007
Upgrade Day One • Polaris upgraded our 4 remaining servers: production, web, telephony, terminal • 6 hours later, we started checking the database and testing • All looked GREAT. • We upgraded our Circulation staff clients to 3.3. • We then uploaded our offline transactions from Circulation – Patron Registrations & Checkouts • The web catalog was accessible once again also!
