Owls update Owls Team Feb 4 2008
Outline • Last time: showed star/galaxy separation through fwhm/mag, mu_max/mag, stellarity plots • Also showed the cluster red sequence • Today we’ll concentrate on color-color diagrams
g-r vs. u-g for galaxies (contours) and stars (dots) (Strateva et. al. ; 2001)
g-r vs. u-g for galaxies (contours) and stars (dots) Stars = red Galaxies = black
Color-color plot (sdss colors) Matched with our Objects from the A611 field Red = zp < 0.3 Black = zp > 0.3 (SDSS model magnitude – from best fit to deVauc or exp’l profile)
Color-color plot (LBC colors) Matched with SDSS Objects from the A611 field Red = zp < 0.3 Black = zp > 0.3 (Aperture magnitude from aperture matched sextraction)
Redshift distribution (after SDSS color cut) Photo z from Sloan All Color foreground Color background
Redshift distribution ,(after our color cut) All Color background Color foreground
G and R, LBC-SDSS Mags LBC = Aperture Magnitude SDSS = Model Magnitude (Still in progress)
Current plans • Stage 1: We will settle on common star foreground/bkgd galaxy samples • Stage 2: compare the psf in the 2 pipelines: • - Compare using pipeline defined ellipticities, pre- and post- deconvln • - Give outline of how imcat removes psf • Stage 3: removing the psf, binning galaxies radially, and extracting a mass profile.
Plans cont. • Stage 4. fit to functional forms, and extract masses, concentrations etc. • (Aim to settle all this by end of Feb extract stable mass profiles) • Stage 5. ultimately, do cosmology with several clusters
G-band star map – using e from imcat Chip boundaries: x = 2260, x = 4380, y = 4800
