  2. Where was WMA placed in 2011? • City of Lakewood, Entire overlay program ~ 60,000 tons • City of Centennial – Several Locations • Arapahoe County – Several Locations • US 50 in Southern Colorado • US 24 Wilkerson Pass • Larimer County – Several Locations • Many more locations in Colorado

  3. What about 2012? • Cities and Counties need to be proactive in allowing the use of WMA. • What is the risk? • No more risk with WMA than with HMA. All specifications must still be met with either mix process

  4. What about 2012? • How does this happen? • Sample language to add to Specifications • Warm mix asphalt (WMA) is allowed as an alternate to hot mix asphalt provided that all material requirements and specification standards are met and as approved by the Agency.
