Objective • At the end of the lesson, student will be able to: • Students know and gain more knowledge about global warming phenomenon. • Teach students how to love and appreciate the earth. • Classify the factor, affect and the way to avoid it.
What is global warming?? • Global warming is perhaps the most important environmental problem in the world today. • Global warming refers to climate change that causes an increase in the average temperature of the lower atmosphere. • Global warming is a change in the atmosphere, causing a change in the weather.
The increasing carbon dioxides such as from human activities, transportation, open burning and factory. • For example, burning fossil flues not only increases carbon dioxides levels in atmosphere, because it also pumps tiny particles into the air. Meanwhile higher temperatures increase the amount of cloud cover. The clouds and particles help to block the Sun's rays, and the scattered light they allow through actually boosts plants' absorption of carbon dioxide, the principle greenhouse gas.”
Increasing of gas chlorofluorocarbon which is from aerosols, foam factory, refrigerators and air cons.
Decreasing of gas oxygen when people always damage the forest for development.
The greenhouse effect occurs naturally, providing a habitable climate.
…COME ON...THINKING ABOUT IT ?!!!!WHAT WE HAVE DONE WITH OUR EARTH ?!!!
Spread of disease • Global warming may extend the favorable zones for vectors conveying infectious disease such as dengue fever and malaria • In Apr 2008, it reported that, as a result of increased temperatures, malaria is appearing in the highland areas of Papua New Guinea, where it has always been too cold for disease-spreading mosquitoes.
Glaciers are retreating at an alarming rate • There will be a considerable increase in the water level of oceans and seas as a result of melting of glaciers
Affect on ecosystems • Many of the species at risk are Arctic and Antarctic fauna such as pola bears and penguins. • Due to melting of polar ice their life cycle is getting disturbed and which leads to death of many animals.
Effects to forest fire • The IPCC Fourth Assessment Report predicts that many mid-latitude regions, such as Mediterranean Europe • will experience decreased rainfall and an increased risk of drought • The increasing weather can cause the forest fire
Direct effects of temperature rise is to human health • The most direct effect of climate change on humans might be the impacts of hotter temperatures themselves • Extreme high temperatures increase the number of people who die on a given day for many reasons • Exp: people with heart problems are vulnerable because one's cardiovascular system must work harder to keep the body cool during hot weather
How to avoid the global warming?? Nuclear energy is the only option to avoid environmental disaster from the potential effects of global warming. Britain’s premier environmental scientist James Lovelock declared that environmental changes caused by global warming have accelerated, and that the only option now for policymakers is to encourage the growth and widespread adoption of nuclear energy.
By recycling of CO2 Carbon dioxide is the only way to avoid Global Warming.
Not burn the wood and replant the forests with fast growing trees. When these trees reach a size at which their growth slows, they would be cut again. Back in the carboniferous era, trees fell into swamps which evidently provided a reducing environment. The oxygen and hydrogen in the wood were re-emitted into the atmosphere, and the carbon became coal. This process will work for us too (to reduce CO2 (it takes too long to make coal) if it proves necessary.
The technology already exists for countries to tackle the issue through the greater use of bio fuels and renewable energy sources, and improving overall energy efficiency. Like plastic bags.
