  1. Una boda azteca • The bride and groom usually had little say in who they married. Fortune tellers, called cihuatlanque, worked between the two families to arrange the marriage. • On the day of the wedding, the bride would decorate her arms and legs with red feathers, and her face would be painted with a yellow pigment.

After the families walked through the streets singing and carrying torches, the bride and groom would meet at their new home. • Once they entered their new home, they would sit on a straw mat and the cihuatlanque would tie their blouses together symbolizing their union. • Then the families had a large feast to celebrate.
