  2. Time in Year 11 • 3 weeks until October half term • 7 weeks until Xmas holidays • 6 weeks until February half term • 6 weeks until Easter holidays • 5 weeks until Exam season Total 27 weeks to make a difference to your final GCSE grades

  3. Big Picture Options Post 16 – Level 3 GCSE’s are your passport to your life choices of Level 3 qualifications – A level /BTEC Apprenticeships World of work The higher the grades the better chance you have of having choices and options for future pathways

  4. How to you get to study A level courses? A Level • Minimum 5 A*- C including English and Maths (4-9) and Grade B/6 in the subjects you wish to take. • An associated subject for courses not taken at GCSE Psychology – English / Humanities Government & Politics-English / Humanities Computing -Maths

Teddington Sixth Form Successful Applications: • Must meet all of the criteria for A levels • Positive attitude and behaviour to learning • Positive attitude and behaviour to school Discretion to criteria: • Your home school is the only institution that may offer some discretion to the A level criteria

  6. How do I make my choices? • What subjects should I take? • What are they like at A level? • What is involved? • What subjects work well together? • Should I take 4 or 3 subjects? • What is the work load like? Through the autumn term in each assembly you will receive subject seminars

Post 16 Education • Very different to KS4 learning • Time Management • Independence and taking responsibility for your learning • A lot of wider reading and research • Strong study / work ethic – 3 hours each night / 12 hours across the weekend • Students in the main will follow 3 AS subjects. A* and A students will be encouraged to follow 4. The final decision will be based on the strength of GCSE grades across all of your subjects • Sixth Form v College – think what kind of learner you are

Teddington Applications • Will be made through UCAS Progress UCAS Progress • Its an online service which opens as of TODAY • It allows you to see all the of subjects Teddington offers and applying is straight forward and simple • Predicted grades will form the basis of any offer • Two terms to make a difference and realise that EVERY lesson counts. You need to understand that small margins will add up and make a difference to your summer results
