The Cactus Pack Ryleigh C. 9 years old Mississippi, USA
Step 1 – Think It! • When I pack my lunch for school there is never enough room for all my food because my drink takes up too much space in my lunchbox.
Step 2 – Explore It! • During my research I found that you can attach the drink to the outside of the lunchbox, or you can carry it separately. My solution is to build a lunchbox with a bladder system built in the walls of the lunchbox with a flexible straw inside to get the liquid out.
Documentation of Sources • For my sources I used Google to look up pictures and to see if there was already something being made. I used YouTube to help me with ideas on how to build my prototype. • “KIDS CHILDRENS CHARACTER SCHOOL LUNCH BOX / BAG WITH WATER BOTTLE.” http://www.ebay.co.uk/bhp/kids-plastic- 2/13/2014. • “Test Kitchen Showdown: Which Lunch Box Food Storage System is Right for Your Family?” http://thenourishinghome.com/2012/08/test-kitchen-showdown-which-lunch-box-food-storage-containers-are-right-for-your-family//310764405151 . Step 4 create it! Step 1 Gather all the materials which include lunch box, Velcro, and pouch.
Step 2 Cut a hole in the inside of the lunch box and insert the pouch.
Step 3 Once you’ve inserted the pouch, cut a hole in the top of the lunch box.
Step 4 Once you’ve done that, take the top of the pouch and stick it through the hole.
Step 5 – Try It! • In the process of creating my prototype, I have had problems with finding the right materials to make sure the prototype works properly. They have failed to perform properly. I am in the process of working with new materials that will hopefully improve it. That way my prototype will work properly.
Step 6 – Tweak It! • It appears the new materials are working properly; therefore, hopefully, I will not have to make any adjustments to my prototype. I am in the process of conducting one more test.
