  2. Introduction Many youngsters aspire for their dream career in IAS. With smart work and the right strategy, you can reach your goal. These are some important tips to ensure that you follow the right strategy for IAS preparation.

  3. Know your exam syllabus Before preparing for your prelims you should have a thorough knowledge of the syllabus to be followed and must be careful enough to not include subjects related to the main exam. This will help in effective utilisation of your time.

  4. 2.Know the exam pattern You should be familiar with the UPSC exam pattern, in order to understand them fast and to complete them in time. UPSC exam is conducted in 3 stages: • Preliminary exam • Main exam • Personal interview

  5. 3. Prepare for the general studies In order to reach the mains examination, it is important to master the G.S paper as it comprises a vast area of subjects. There will be 100 questions for 2 hours, with each one carrying 2 marks.

  6. 4. Go through previous years question papers Even though UPSC won’t repeat the same questions, still it’s better to familiarise with the kind of questions asked. The same ‘type’ of questions may get repeated. The reach of the questions being asked can be understood by going throughprevious years IAS question papers.
