What Makes Puberty Happen? The pituitary gland sends a signal to the body to produce the hormone that starts puberty.
When does this Happen? An average female tends to go through puberty usually two years sooner than an average male; but, there is a great difference between individuals. • Puberty happens between 8-15 years old • Everyone will start and finish at a different time • This is normal
Does everyone produce the same hormone? If you have testicles, the pituitary gland sends a signal to produce Testosterone. Testosterone is a steroid hormone that stimulates development of male secondary sexual characteristics, produced mainly in the testes, but also in the ovaries and adrenal cortex.
Does everyone produce the same hormone? If you have ovaries, the pituitary gland sends a signal to produce Estrogen. Estrogen are hormones that are important for sexual and reproductive development, mainly in women. They are also referred to as female sex hormones.
