THE GLANDULAR SYSTEM Inge Wetzel ND, CNHP
The Functions • Controls the function of EVERY cell • Controls the function of EVERY system • Controls communication between cells • Works like a “thermostat” set on automatic • Sends out messages to help keep you warm, cool you off, help you grow, digest foods, burn calories, fight sickness, have a bm, balance sugar, have babies and more!
Pituitary GlandThe Master Gland • Located at the base of the brain. • Responsible for stimulating hormone production in ALL the other glands.
Pituitary Function • Mostly known for its control of thyroid hormones • Water balance (swollen legs/night-time urination) • These hormones also have dramatic effects on metabolism, blood pressure, sexuality, reproduction, and other vital body functions. • In addition, the pituitary gland produces growth hormone (IGF-1)for normal growth, which is necessary for proper thyroid function as well.
The Low Thyroid • Slow starter in the morning • Cold natured • Concentration problems • Weight problems • Constipation • Metabolic Syndrome • Infertility • Emotional problems • ADD/ADHD • Cholesterol problems • Sugar imbalances • Fibromyalgia
Thyroid is Part of a System • Needs Adrenal hormones to work • Needs Pituitary hormones to work • Needs vital nutrients to work – Super Trio • Even if you take prescription thyroid, you WILL develop critical health problems later on.
What Blocks Thyroid Hormones? • Fluoride – use NSP Xylobrite toothpaste • Aluminum- use Natures Fresh for deodorant • Excess estrogen, i.e. pesticides, stress, over-eating – use Pro-G-Yam cream. • Chlorine – NSP Fabric Brightener • Bromide (commercial breads) • STATIN drugs
Hashimoto’s Disease • Symptoms are the same as for underactive thyroid. • It goes undiagnosed most of the time. • Ask your doctor for a thyroid antibody test. • Do NOT give immune stimulants. • Alwayssupport the Adrenal Glands.
Hyperthyroidism • Grave’s Disease • Multiple nodules in the thyroid gland • Thyroiditis – inflammation of the thyroid • Overdosing of medication • Pituitary Problems – pituitary determines amount of thyroid hormones to be produced. • Alwayssupport Adrenal Glands.
Hyperthyroidism Symptoms: • Fast heart-beat • Sweating • Increased Bowel-movements • Anxiety • Increased body temperature (>98.2) • Heart Failure • Mental Confusion
Autoimmune • These conditions appear stress/hormone induced. • Mostly they seem to disappear when a women gets pregnant. • Drastic increase in girls when puberty starts. • Pro-G-Yam, Sarsaparilla or Wild Yam & Chaste Tree Berry to add progesterone. • Always support the Adrenal Glands.
The Adrenal Connection • DHEA-F/M – Take this if you are over 40 • CORTISOL – Mastergland/Adrenal Support • PROGESTERONE – Pro-G-Yam 500 • IGF-1 – Take this if you are over 40 • EFA’s – Super Trio
Symptoms • Metabolic Syndrome • Low/High blood pressure • Stiff joints • Fatigue • Anxiety • Blood-sugar problems • Impaired memory • Insomnia
Glandular System Pack • Master Gland – feeds ALL the glands to help balance the hormones. • Adaptamax – helps the body cope with stress, balance sugar and your mood. Remember stress blocks thyroid hormones. • Adrenal Support – With every dose of thyroid you take, the adrenals shut down more. They are Siamese twins. They both need food.
Who Knows Your Body Best? • My lab tests are “normal”. • That means you are just as sick as everyone else who walks in the doctors office and gets blood-work done. • The ranges are established by people who don’t feel well and go to these labs.
Bloodwork • The most inaccurate way to test your thyroid. • Trauma early in life changes the way your body processes hormones. • Just because the hormones are in the blood doesn’t mean your body uses them. • If unused, they spill out in the urine.
Test Yourself! • Take your underarm temperature before • arising in the morning. If you still have a • cycle, take it 2nd, 3rd and 4th day of cycle. • Below 97.8- 98.2 is a sign of low thyroid. • Take temperature upon retiring. • If low, that is a sign of adrenal fatigue.
Nervous Fatigue TCM • Helps the body combat stress, improve digestion and sleep. • It is soothing and nourishing to the glandular system, and great for adrenals/emotions. • Take one or two capsules in the morning.
Fixing The Cause • Thyroid Support – Nourishes the Thyroid and helps reduce cholesterol. Remember that Statin drugs block thyroid hormones, and low thyroid causes high cholesterol. • Medical laboratories promote ranges from 120-200 instead of 180-220. • Can you run your car without oil?
Blood Sugar Imbalances • Trembling • Clammy skin • Palpitations • Anxiety • Sweating, profuse night-sweats • Inability to go back to sleep in the middle of the night • Irritability • Difficulty thinking • Confusion • Headache • Eye-sight problems
SugarRegDon’t be fooled by your blood-tests! • As a women, is your waist 34”? • As a man, is your waist 40”? • High Triglycerides, low HDL along with the above numbers increases risk for cancer, strokes and heart attacks. • SugarReg can balance sugar levels. • Could help balance triglycerides. • May also improve your cholesterol.
Mood Elevator TCM • In Chinese medicine it is said that the liver harbors anger, frustration, depression and moodiness. • The liver is also responsible for proper hormone function, i.e. blood-sugar, PMS, menopause, anxiety as well as blood-pressure problems etc. • Mood Elevator opens the flow of energy from the liver throughout the body, quiets the heart and lifts the spirit. • Lifts anything sagging, i.e. spirit, bladder, uterus.
Essential Oils • Thyroid: Myrrh • Adrenals: Pine • Pituitary: Clary Sage
