  1. An Ultimate Price Guide to Eco-Solvent Ink It is easy to get lost in the world of Eco Sol ink which is why arming yourself with the right information about the products you are purchasing is important so you’ll know that you are buying the right supplies. A good first step to take is to gain a better understanding of what eco solvent inks are all about. Water based ink formulations typically consist of pigments, surfactants, latex polymers, dye colorants, humectants, and glycols. This basic formulation first emerged in the 1950s and is known to produce bright colors but can fade faster than Eco-Sol inks especially under harsh exterior conditions. Eco solvent ink formulations on the other hand typically contain diethylene glycol diethyl ether or GBL (gamma-Butyrolactone) as a primary solvent. This solvent is a byproduct of the production of petroleum and Germany is a major supplier. Eco solvent inks are more preferred than their non-eco friendly counterparts (mild or low solvents) because they contain no volatile organic compounds and are mostly odorless. The mild solvent ink and solvent ink categories contain BGA or butyl glycol acetate as a primary solvent carrier. Mild solvent inks have a pungent odor, although similar to eco-solvent inks, they don’t contain some of the volatile organic compounds typically found in hard solvent inks. Bink Inks seem to offer the best prices on eco sol inks and are GBL free, Prop 65 compliant and EN71-3 compliant as well. No other ink manufacturer provides these qualifications currently. Choose from a range of replacement ink products made and designed using cutting edge technology and years of thorough research and development from Bink Inks www.binkinks.com.
