Question 1: In what ways is the TAI approach useful? The TAI methodology is useful as even just a tool to begin raising awareness (before an assessment) In Cambodia, the TAI methods would be useful (esp. A2I and A2P) Perhaps some of the indicators could be used as monitors for implementation of the MDG #7. Useful to governments as check and balance
Question 2: How can the TAI methods be adapted or modified? • Indicators should be country-specific • Could be sector-specific (e.g., transportation/infrastructure, energy, etc.) and incorporate cross-cutting issues (e.g., poverty reduction; role of businesses) • Case selection should focus on environmental health impacts
Question 3: How can TAI be used to strategically engage governments? • Involve governments from the beginning of the process • Integrate the Access Principles into the electoral process • Introduce the methodology step-by-step • Avoid terminology and concepts that “turn off” governments (translate concepts) • Assessments teams must be free of influences and members from outside the country
