ADDITIONAL CENTRAL ASSISTANCE SCHEME (RKVY) • SADA PUNJAB - NODAL AGENCY FOR IMPLEMENTATION OF RKVY • SLSC CONSTITUTED – NOTIFICATION BEING DONE • DISTRICT AGRICULTURAL PLANS- PREPARED • STATE AGRICULTURAL PLAN – UNDER PREPARATION THRUST AREAS : • Soil Health Improvement • IPM • INM • Improvement in Water use efficiency • Strengthening of Institutions
EXTENSION • TECHNOLOGY TRANSFER : • District level camps –40 (One each in Kharif & Rabi) • Block level training camps -282 (One each in Kharif & Rabi) • Village level training camps – 2820 (10 villages per block) • Dissemination through Print and Electronic Media. • A set of Package of Practices and monthly magazine ‘CHANGI KHETI’ published by PAU to be supplied to each village panchayat. • KISSAN CALL CENTER: • 63830 no of calls received at 1551 upto August 2007. • A call centre Mobile Number 98554 22555 set-up at PAU. • The major topic of the calls were:
CAPACITY BUILDING OF STAFF • TO UPDATE THE CROP PRODUCTION TECHNOLOGY THE WORKSHOP FOR THE STAFF ORGANISED AT PAU BEFOR START OF KHARIF AND RABI SEASONS • ONE WEEK CROP SEPCIFIC TRAININGS FOR FIELD STAFF. • ISSUE BASED TRAININGS: i) SEED TREATMENT ii) CROP ESTABLISHMENT iii) WEEDS CONTROL iv) IPM and INM v) ON-FARM WATER MANAGEMENT
SEED TREATMENT • Following six crops identified for Rabi season: - Wheat - Mustard - Barley - Gram - Sunflower - Spring maize • State Level Coordination Committee Constituted • Demonstrations planned under various Programmes: • Sale Centers of certified seeds directed to provide treated seed or treatment chemicals along with seed. • Special campaign will be launched for seed treatment. • Wide publicity will be organized for the Campaign.
NATIONAL HORTICULTURE MISSION • Government of India (GOI) launched National Horticulture Mission (NHM) for the holistic development of the horticulture sector in all the states with an aim to double the horticulture produce by the year 2011-12 • During 2005-06 an expenditure incurred was 697.21 lac and 1736.88 lac was during 2006-07 • The Annual Action Plan (AAP) for the year 2007-08 has been approved for an amount of Rs.: 7511.11 lac • CONSTRAINTS: • Lack of adequate marketing of horticulture crops. • Weak post-harvest management infrastructure • Lack of processing of fruits and vegetable. • Inadequate relief for orchards in the event of natural calamities. • Lack of technical Staff
MARKETING • Well developed marketing network comprising of: • 139 Principal Yards • 275 Sub-market Yards • 1050 Purchase Centers • Four Terminal Markets being set-up at Ludhiana, Jalandhar, Hoshiarpur and Mukatsar in PPP mode. • Two projects for development and strengthening of marketing infrastructure submitted to DMI, GoI. • 33 Infrastructure Centers for collection, sorting and grading of vegetables and fruits being set-up under NHM. • Participation in Multi-state Agricultural Competitiveness Project.
