4-Year College Application Checklist • Complete the 2013/2014 application • Get your Transcript from your counselor • SAT/ACT scores • Student & parent social security numbers • Student & parent citizenship status • UC & CSU don’t require letters of recommendation
CSU/Cal State • Apply online between October 1-November 30 • Application is available at: csumentor.edu • Submit 1 application per campus ($55 per campus) • Essay & extracurricular activities are not required • Send your SAT scores to CSUmentor: code 3594 (this allows all CSU’s to see your score)
UC/University of California • Apply online between November 1-November 30 • Application is available at: universityofcalifornia.edu/admissions • Submit 1 application only ($70 per campus) • Essay and list of activities & awards are required • Send your SAT scores to only 1 UC and all campuses will be able to access your scores
Private Colleges • Submit a request for a letter of recommendation to your counselor or teachers. Give them at least two weeks notice • When you request a letter of recommendation from your counselor, you'll need to submit a Student Profile • Private college requirements, applications, and deadlines vary by college • Consult with individual college websites to get specific information
Community Colleges • Apply online during February & March • Take the placement test • Attend orientation • Register for classes
One-On-One • Counselors will be calling in seniors individually to discuss college plans • Seniors will be called out of class between September-December • Go to your counselor’s office on the day and time you are called. If you cannot miss class, it is your responsibility to make another appointment with your counselor (if you so desire)

More Financial Aid Info • Apply online at fafsa.ed.gov (2013-2014 application) • Apply between January 1-March 2, 2013 • Fill out the FAFSA for any college (2-year or 4-year) in the United States • Financial aid is awarded by federal & state agencies & colleges • Colleges will send your financial aid award letter via email
