”HAKKESPETTBOKA” - A tool meant for providers of outdoor activities in Norway ”Safetur” Project kickoff meeting Riga, November 19th-20th, 2012 Nadja Hartikkala hanen.no
The owners of the project NCE Tourism Fjord Norway www.ncetourism.no ARENA Innovative Opplevelser www.innopp.no HANEN www.hanen.no With economical support from Innovation Norway
Why this project? • For the same reasons as the “Safetur project”: There seems to be a general need to strengthen and improve the development of businesses that can provide outdoor activities – due to both national and international standards • The providers themselves express a need for improving their own competence, and demand a general quality assurance throughout the industry. We base this on the following: • HANEN completed a preliminary on the matter in 2010; results from the survey done here clearly showed a strong need for a certain quality of assurance among these type of businesses • Both NCE TFN and InnOpp have according to their action plans, agreed to prepare a manual for providers of outdoor activities
The project goal is… • To develop a “hands on” tool which is customized for these kind of businesses • To generate further growth and enhance competence in each single business, and strengthen the premises for profitability • To make the potential and market value of these businesses more visible strengthen the opportunities for this industry to build up a position in the travel and tourism market on a national level
Why this kind of tool? Part 1 • This must be a tool based on the businesses’ premises, which in a easily understood manner refers to, and describes, all of the circumstances* which these actors and providers need to considerate, in order to run their businesses as professional and safe as possible
Why this tool? Part 2 • Our intention is a) to reinforce and enhance the market assumptions, b) to create an even more heavy focus on this kind of activities/tourism, and c) to work towards a more sustainable tourism • Our goal is that this manual/tool may contribute on laying the foundation for common national standards, and then further; that this may lead to a high-quality development which will help this industry’s position in the travel & tourism industry as a whole
