  1. Images of Llanelli The images in this flipchart are of buildings in Llanelli that were built during the Victorian Age. When was the Victorian Age? Are there any Victorian buildings in your area? How do they compare with the Victorian buildings in this flipchart?

  2. Look at this building. What were the main building materials used? Look at the style of the building. What shapes can you see? How would you describe the architecture? Take photographs of Victorian buildings in your own locality. Is there a building similar to this near you. This is the town hall at Llanelli. It was built during the 1890's. It is a typical Victorian building.

  3. Compare this with the previous photograph. What are the similarities? What are the differences? Make a list. This is the mansion at Park Howard. The Howard family were very rich.

  4. How many shapes can you see in this building. Make a list. Many chapels were built in the 18th century. This is a typical chapel of the time.

  5. Describe this building in your own words. What do you like or dislike about this building? Is there a modern part to this building? Are there similar buildings in your locality? The main building clearly illustrates the architecture of the late Victorian era.

  6. Compare this church with one of the chapels? What criteria would you use to compare? This church is another example of the styles used in architecture.

  7. Look carefully at this building. What are the original features? Compare the building with some of the other buildings? This building was an old music hall, which later became a cinema and is now a pub.

  8. Are there any 19th century chapels in your area? Are there any dates on the chapel? Compare this chapel with chapels in your locality? This is another chapel built during the reign of Queen Victoria. Can you see the date?

  9. The remnants of the Victorian Age are all around us. Are there any Victorian buildings in your village, town or city? If so take photographs. What do they tell us about life during the Victorian Age?
