Δx/Δt ratio • This determines the rate of solidification • Large Ratio – s/l interface travels closer to liquidus isotherm • Too small – solidification front can’t keep up
Δx/Δt Ratio • Cooled walls will not be able to pull heat out at as fast as melting temp isotherm moves • Solid-liquid interface will close in on Tm
Results • Solid-liquid interface will close in on Tm
Future Studies • More in-depth analysis of Δx/Δt ratio • Analysis of physical basis for various constants • Crystallographic orientation model
