The three branches of government under the Constitution are like Santa’s Workshop By: Skylar Station S.S. Period 2
The Constitution is like the workshop rule because everyone must obey the rules no matter how much power they have!! Workshop Rules: 1. Don’t let the little elves near the machinery (Remember what happened to Fred) 2. Make sure when exiting the factory all machines and lights are turned off ( The dogs like to roam around at night) 3. Do not try to fix the machines ask Jax, the head elf, to help you(especially you Joe) 4. Make sure to check the naughty and Nice List before creating toys (even if the child is your friend) Page 1
The letters that are sent to Santa by the children are like the people of the U.S. because they both express their feeling to the government. Page 2
Page 3 The Executive Branch is like Santa Claus because Santa appoints positions to the elves just as the Executive Branch appoints federal judges to the Supreme Court.
Mrs. Claus and the workshop elves are like the Legislative Branch because Mrs. Claus and the workshop elves check on Santa and make sure his rules are fair just as the Judicial Branch checks on the President. Page 4
The board of elves is like the Judicial Branch because the Board of Elves can Page 5 declare that what Santa is doing is unfair just as the Judicial Branch can declare that what the President is doing is unconstitutional
Santa Claus is like the president because they both have the ability to suggest laws/rules, but the laws/rules must be approved by the other people too Page 6
The Workshop Elves are like the Congress because the Workshop Elves meet and discuss how they are going to get all the toys done for Christmas just as the Congress meets and discusses important dates Page 7
The Board of Elves is like the Supreme Court because the board of Elves help Santa with decisions and tell him if they can be passed just as the Supreme Court does with the President Page 8
Page 9 The way the Elves, Mrs. Claus, and Santa check on each other is like Checks and Balances because they both consist of each group checking on the other and the balance of power
The Reindeer that pull Santa’s sleigh are like the Separation of Powers because the reindeer use all of their skills together to make the sleigh fly just as in the Separation of Powers makes all the branches work together to get the United States government to work Page 10
The Articles of Confederation are like the Naughty and Nice list because the Naughty and Nice list determines what you get for Christmas just as the Articles of Confederation determine what the people can and cannot do in the U.S. Page 11
The Great Compromise is like the rule that kids are not permanently on the Naughty List because in the rule that kids don’t have to stay on the Naughty List it makes a compromise that if a child is good the rest of the year and just mess up once, then before Christmas they can be switched to the Nice List just as in the Great compromise they took equal representation as the compromise Page 12
The Constitutional Convention is like the Christmas meeting at the workshop because in both cases they get together and talk about important issues and new ideas Page 13
The Senate is like the Head Elf because they are both the main focus of their certain branch/ board. Page 14
Page 15 The Senate is like the Board of Elves (excluding the Head Elf) because they can both tell the president/ Santa that what they are doing or not doing is needing to be changed so that the government/workshop will run smoothly
