  3. CARLOS NORIEGA • Carlos Noriega was born on October 8, 1959, in Lima, Peru. He flew helicopters for the U.S. Marine Corps after college. He graduated with a master’s degree in space systems operations in 1990. NASA selected him for the Astronaut Corps in 1994. He helped build the International Space Station on his second mission. He continues to work for NASA at the Johnson Space Center.
