  1. VisualTime Distributor QuickNotes The following actions are necessary to prepare a mx3 RS terminal not already initialized by Robotics to work with VisualTime. This actions should be done by the distributor before packaging the product, so the customer does not need to deal with this. First of all, you must download the operating system to the terminal. The operating system provides the communications capabilities and other stuff VisualTime needs: Download “TableOS for mx2 RS” to the mx2 RS terminal. 1. Open the folder Redist\RS Terminals\mx2 on the VisualTime CD. 2. Execute the Download.exe program. 3. From the Download program, open the file “*(ENG).shx” or “*(SPA).shx” depending on the language you want. Leave the default connection settings (except for COM port) and start the download. Then, a behavior must be programmed on the terminal. A behavior indicates the terminal what functions are active or inactive, what data the user must input, what to display, etc. To program a behavior, do the following: Install VisualTime if you have not done so. If you did download TableOS on the terminal after installing and running VisualTime, the terminal will not be auto-detected. If this happens, head for Tools menu, Terminal Options, and click on ‘Detect new terminals’ on the communications port where the terminal is installed. Program a behavior on the terminal. From the Tools menu, head to Terminal Options. You will see a graphical representation of your communications ports and detected terminals here. Double click on the terminal to access the terminal properties screen. On this screen, you will notice that VisualTime indicates you that the terminal has no behavior. From the behaviors tab you can set a new behavior on the reader from the available ones. The operating system behind the terminal portion of VisualTime, called TableOS, is distributed along with VisualTime, and provides a quick method of programming the terminals different than application generators or plain programming, based on tables or data-driven. If you are interested, you will find the reference guide in the folder on the CD. VisualTime behaviors can be created in a matter of minutes by anyone, and the final version for distributors will provide many behaviors suitable for modification, along a SDK and packaging routines. On the other hand, it is also possible to implement the communications directives required by VisualTime on your own programs (C, Basic, etc.)
