Similar Figures • Similar figures have the same shape but not necessarily the same size. • They have corresponding angles that are congruent. • They have corresponding sides that are proportional.
To see if a figure is similar to another, check to see whether the sides are proportional.
Symmetry Rotation Translation Reflection
A line on which a figure can be folded so that both sides match. Symmetry
To be a line of symmetry, the shape must have two halves that match exactly. When you trace a heart onto a piece of folded paper, and then cut it out, the two half hearts make a whole heart. The two halves are symmetrical.
