2. He now has 4 wives! a) He now has 11 sons and a daughter. (1) He wants to leave. II. Genesis 30:25-34 A. The Lord’s hand is upon Jacob.
1. Jacob has made him a rich man. 2. Verse 31 a) He had paid dearly. 3. He makes a “deal” with uncle Laban. a) The ‘spotted and specked’ his wages.” (1) “any not spotted considered stolen.”
(a) Visible to see if were stealing. 4. Few that were spotted and speckled! III. Genesis 30:35-36 A. These verses a source of speculation.
1. “He” = uncle Laban. 2. A selfish move. a) Jacob starting from “zero”. b) Only “perfect ones” under care of Jacob. (1) Jacob entrusted with the solid colors! (a) So Jacob couldn’t cheat.
(b) Was sure Jacob would be with him a long time. IV. Genesis 30:37-39 A. The poplar, almond, and chestnut trees caused the offspring being spotted?”
1. Point is Jacob does! 2. Conniving still a part of him. 3. The Lord supercedes genetics! a) Jacob could have asked the Lord to accomplish this. b) The Lord blessed him anyway.
(1) Planning on having children? V. Genesis 30:40-43 A. Jacob became wealthy and powerful man! 1. Genesis 25:23 2. Genesis 27: 28
a) The Lord did not need Jacob’s conniving. b) Jacob’s increase came from the Lord. (1) Not everyone thrilled when you are blessed. VI. CONCLUSION
A. Genesis 31:1-16 1. Laban had “sold” his daughters to Jacob . a) Verse 16 b) Stick up for Jacob. (1) Not much of a relationship with him. (2) Had few relationships.
