METABOLISM • Noun • The process through which an organism changes food into energy. • As Ellen’s diet changed, her metabolism changed too.
METAMORPHOSIS • Noun • Change in form; transformation. • After several weeks, the tadpole’s metamorphosis into a frog was complete.
METAPHORICAL • Adjective • Symbolic rather than literal. • Mr. DeMarco had a hard time explaining to his class that they were not going on a real field trip, but a metaphorical one.
AL “other, another”
INALIENABLE • Adjective • Not able to be taken away. • Although Michelle seems to think it’s her inalienable right to interrupt people, few friends agree with her.
