A brief about Fractional Distillation Column • A separation technique employed in various chemical processing methods based upon the difference in boiling point of the components present in the reaction mixture is called as the Fractional Distillation. • It gained a wide application in separation of components present in crude oil. http://www.hitekengineers.com/
The working method of the column involves the interdiction f the feed solution (crude oil) into the boiler maintained at a constant temperature. As soon the crude oil is passed through the column it undergo passage through the varying temperature throughout the column. • In the fractionating column the added crude oil is heated at varying temperature. The components of the desired boiling point get separated from the mixture at the point when the components reaches it boiling point. The components with the desired boiling point get excluded from the column at the point it reaches its b.p and is collected in a column attached to the fractionating column. http://www.hitekengineers.com/
The yield from the fractional distillation is not pure. As the gasoline extracted from the crude oil comprises of only 40% of the pure gasoline which 60% of the extract comprises of impurities. • Gasoline is an important product in the of the oil industry. It is used at larger scale by oil companies. • And the simplest and commonest ,method of extraction of gasoline is fractional distillation method. http://www.hitekengineers.com/
Hydrocarbons present in crude oil can be easily extracted using this precise distillation method. • Crude Oil comprises of the hydrocarbons like paraffins, aromatic hydrocarbons, napthalenes or cycloalkanes, alkenes. • It consist of both branched and linear compounds. http://www.hitekengineers.com/
