  1. What are the types of mobile testing? The relative importance of mobile testing The number of smartphone users has only quadrupled over the last few years and as per research, there is going to be a steady demand for mobile/smartphones. This clearly means the market for mobile applications is going to be colossal. According to research, approximately 54.8% of global web traffic comes from the mobile devices segment. This means that mobile apps must run seamlessly on various operating systems and different devices. For this specific purpose, mobile app testing should be carried out in a well-planned manner. Mobile testing ensures that mobile apps run flawlessly and provides the best user experience. Following are the types of mobile testing: Localization testing 1 Those features that are dependent on the application’s geographical location are tested. Localized features are included in those applications that have a global user base as it provides a sort of convenience to the users. Interruption testing 2 This testing method evaluates how a mobile application responds when there is an unanticipated interruption. The application can react in a specific way or pause and return to its original state based on the nature of the interruption. All the mobile-related interruptions are properly tackled and solved by the interruption testing method. Functional testing 3 All the functional aspects of a mobile application are thoroughly tested using this testing method. The user flows within the application are properly tested. Users should be able to sign-up and log into the application. Icons, menus, buttons and text boxes should function as per the business requirements. Security testing 4 As per research, approximately 70% of mobile user’s personal information is shared without their consent and around 81% of users are ready to uninstall an application if they find any security flaws in the mobile application. Hence, security testing is important to check for vulnerabilities and thus develop a robust product. Performance testing 5 This testing method is performed to analyze how an application performs under varying workload conditions. Through the performance testing method, the device is put under due pressure to ascertain whether it can function properly under non-optimal conditions. The device, network, API and server performance along with recovery capabilities are duly analyzed.
