10 HEAD FASHION FIGURE EXERCISE • Following the magazine reference of the female figure, create a croquet of 10Head Fashion Figure by following the map of 10 heads: • Mark off figure proportions with horizontal and vertical lines (10 heads) • Establish pit of neck, balance line and axial line (S curved line if need it). • Using geometric shapes, establish the figure gesture. For example, put the rib cage as a box with the shoulder line at a slight angle. • Next draw pelvis box, dipping at an angle in the opposite direction. • Place weight-carrying foot and leg directly under the pit of the neck. • Sketch free leg with the knee bent. • USE THIS MAP FOR THE WORKING SESSION EXERICISE

BALANCE LINE, GUIDELINES • A CROQUE SHOULD CORRESPOND TO THE STYLE LINES OF THE GARMENT. • BALANCE LINE IS THE MAGINARY STRAIGHT LINE THAT DROPS FROM THE PIT OF THE NECK TO THE GROUND. IT NEVER BENDS. • IN AN EXERCISE, ANALIZE TH EBALANCE LINES IN PHOTOGRAPHS FROM FASHION MAGAZINES. • WITH A MARKER, INDICATE THE BALANCE LINES IN COLOR, INDICATE THE HIGH HIPS AND SUPPORTING LEGS AND STYLE LINES IN COLOR AS WELL.
GESTURE- MOVEMENT OR ACTION LINE • FASHION FIGURE NEEDS TO HAVE A FLOW AND MOVEMENT, WITH CAPTURED MOVEMENT, ACTION OR ESSENCE. • STUDY THE MOVEMENT, GESTURED LINES, AND S CURVE OF THE BODY LINE FROM THE PHOTOGRAPHS OF THE MAGAZINES. IN WHAT YOU THINK THE DIRECTION OR GESTURE OF THE FIGURE MIGH BE? • S CURVE IS THE ONE OF THE MOST CLASSIC AND FASHIONALBLE GESTURES OR POSES. 10 HEAD FASHION FIGURE EXERCISE • After trying several versions of this exercise, do some small, quick sketches of action lines to get the feeling of different poses. Leave out the outline and details of the figure, using as few lines as possible. These practice drawings are done as following: • Draw the axial line in a curve and indicate the pit of the neck. • Add oval for a head, with neck indicated by a single line. • Indicate arms and legs with single lines, adding simplified hands and feet as well. • Try many poses and see how animated these jottings can become. • Try a line like the letters S. Make it large and work out a pose within that shape. The S line always makes a beautiful and graceful poses.
