Solid, Liquid, Gas Aya, Samara, and Seba 6D 1
Unit Concepts • Areas of interaction = Human Ingenuity • What is matter? • Human ingenuity is a way to measure matter. • Humans have invented a way to measure matter, can you name them?
What are they? • The three states of matter- Solid, Liquid, and Gas. • Solids, Liquids, and Gases have DIFFERENTPROPERTIES. • A property of a substance is just HOW IT BEHAVES
Solids • Solids have a firm volume. • They are held closely in fixed positions • Solids have a firm shape • Solids are not easily squashed • Solids don’t flow .
Liquids • Liquids match the shape of a container • Liquids flow easily • Liquids are not easily squashed • Liquid particles are close together but they can move.
Gases • Gases have no firm volume because they fill the space they’re in • We can not live without gases • Gases become the same shape as the container • Gases are easily squashed • Gases flow easily
