  2. El escritor MortRainey, se ha retirado a una casa al lado del lago, tras un divorcio con su mujer, Amy al descubrir su infidelidad con Ted Milner quien ahora es su novio. Viviendo solo Mort se enfrenta un día con John Shooter quien lo acusa de plagio pero lo único que quiere él es que Mort cambie el final como Shoother lo había escrito y lo publique, citándolo como autor.

Pasado el tiempo su conciencia le hace ver que Shooter no es real, solo una imaginación de Mort muy real para personificar el lado oscuro de su personalidad escribiendo en todas las paredes la palabra "shooter“ que significa "Shoot-her" "dispárale a ella". Así que Mort asesina a su ex esposa y a su amante, Ted, con una pala y los entierra en un jardín donde más tarde planta maíz que el mismo come.
