  7. Thanksgiving Break • Always the last Thursday in November • Most schools get 2.5 days off: half day on Wednesday, no school Thursday and Friday • In college (university), students usually get a whole week off

  8. Christmas (Winter) Break • Most schools get 2 weeks off • Includes Christmas, New Year’s Eve, and New Year’s Day: December 31 and January 1 • In college, students usually get 3 or 4 weeks off

  9. Spring Break • In primary and secondary education, usually includes Easter • Usually 1 week off • In college, spring break is usually before Easter and students don’t get any time off for Easter

  10. Summer Break • Usually 3 months: part of May, all of June, all of July, part of August • College breaks are usually a little longer • You start a new grade after the summer break • Many students attend summer school
