It’s useful for teams and clinicians as it acts as glue for cohesive team work • It engages clients and is useful for them • It’s a useful framework to lead programme and intervention setting • Input is based on the clients goals which have been set with the team based upon assessment findings and therefore lead to more satisfaction • It evaluates goals from the clients’ perspective which means programmes are kept up to date and both client and staff know when it’s time for discharge • Problems on implementing GAS into your team can include confusion over terminology – later! It’s the OM that NCB Director wishes to be used for patient/client led outcomes • It is already being reported to UKROC and many other agencies to prove engagement and progress through input • It is being used to benchmark good practice • International evidence on efficacy GAS is a gold standard OM Amanda Swain

Goals - client goals • Strategy – Service (MDT) integrated plan • Steps - SMART (therapist & client) • Interventions – actual therapy • Outcomes – measures that evidence clients’ achievement or progress toward their Goals (& the efficacy of the Interventions as proposed in the Strategy) The terminology Amanda Swain
