UX modes: 80/20 80% 82% have 6-75 contacts (58% have 11-50 contacts) 87% have 1-5 groups?? (see questions) (26% have 1 group?) ? conversations at a given time 20% 12% have >76 contacts 6.5% have < 6 contacts 13% have > 6 groups ? conversations at a time 17% view properties 8% use tag 2% send email 0% use details pane 0% call computer 0% call phone number 0% use file transfer 0% use app sharing 0% use LiveMeeting 0% use video (flawed data?) 86% of those who clicked on a search result typed in more than 6 characters and 90% selected the 1st or 2nd result.
questions Is there squim data showing that users type > 6 characters in search? Research data clams that ‘search and contact list are used fairly equally.’ … Does this account for the initial setup phase? A user would search and then add to contacts? 87% of users have 1-5 groups? … Are not users set up with one ‘contacts’ group by default? How can a user have 0 groups? Perhaps the 26% who have 1 group would like to have 0? How can contacts be “grouped by availability?” Is there a way to track the avg. number of conversations users are engaged in at any given time? Do we have any data on how often people type more than one line of text in conversations? How often are there more than 2 people in an IM conversation?
