Presentation from Tripuraon GIS implication By Sri M. K. Gop Deputy Secretary & Asstt. SREG Commissioner
ABOUT US • Following the guidelines of the Indian Space Research Organization (ISRO), the Government of Tripura has established Tripura Space Applications Centre as a wing of Tripura State Council for Science & Technology in the year 2000. • Declared as Nodal Centre for all Remote Sensing (RS) and Geographical Information System (GIS) and Geo-spatial Information Technology (GIT) related activities in the State in the year 2006.
OBJECTIVES OF TRIPURA SPACE APPLICATIONS CENTRE • To buildup technical capacity at various levels of administration and intra department’s coordination for enabling the adoption of Geo – spatial Information Technology for integrated development planning. • To provide S&T inputs for framing policies related to Spatial Data Technologies. • To act as a supportive tool for sustainable development and scientific management of State resources. • To strengthen the planning process for integrated scientific resource management through development. • Technology Transfer & Capacity Building of end users. • To forge linkages with the users at different levels.

NEED OF CREATION OF STATE DIGITAL DATA WAREHOUSE • Qualitative planning using state digital data. • Prepare macro & micro based plan using digital data with different scale. • It is easy to modify as per user department’s requirement. • It is editable in the implementation stage. • Data updating is possible only through Constant Interface. • Data warehouse to capture user dept’s requirement
CREATION OF STATE DIGITAL DATA WAREHOUSE (1:25,000 for planning and 1:10,000 for implementation purpose) Proposed time frame for completion of State Digital Data Warehouse Start Date : 1st October 2009 End Date : 31st March 2011
BACKGROUND OF PRESENT INITIATIVE OF TRIPURA SPACE APPLICATIONS CENTRE • The Government of Tripura has put all out effort to utilise all potential natural resources of the State with a “no net loss” goal, specially for use of land & water acreage and function. • Accordingly a Task Force was formed by the General Body of the Tripura State Council for Science & Technology in it’s 9th meeting and the meeting was chaired by the Hon’ble Chief Minister, Govt. of Tripura. • The Task Force has identified some mismatch in scientific approach & management in Land and Water resources planning and recommended for creation of State Digital Data Warehouse to support and lead the State towards scientific planning and overall management of resources.
PROPOSED INTERFACE WITH THE USER DEPARTMENTS • User Departments to be sensitized on the usage of Remote Sensing & GIS data. • Head of User Departments will appoint one Nodal Officer from their respective Department. • The Nodal Officer from User Departments will act as an interface between the Tripura Space Applications Centre and the User Departments. • TSAC appointed Nodal Officers. • Tripura Space Applications Centre will design and develop a user friendly data dissemination programme and impart necessary training to the users.
