  3. Osteospermum • Herbacous Annuals • Grow to a height of 1-1.5 feet • Full sun an light, dry soil • General purpose (20-20-20) fertilizer once per month, or as needed

  4. Planting Osteospermum • Plant seed on op of soil with vermiculte lightly covering seed. • Plant approximately 4 inches apart (2 inches if in seed flat)

  5. Germination Time and Conditions • Average germination will take place between 8-12 days • Cover seeds with a thin layer of vermiculite • Light: No necessary for germination • Moisture: High moisture (saturated) for first 5 days. Wet until day 8. After day 8, alternate days between wet and medium moisture • Temperature: Average of 65 degrees F

  6. Blooming • Average bloom time is 14-16 weeks. • Osteospermum will flower within a 7-10 day period. • Will bloom all summer long if cut back regularly

  7. Caring for Osteospermum • Remove old leaves to prevent fungus infections • When repotting, make sure that all roots are in soil and no leaves are buried • They do not generally need insecticides or fungicides, but if needed, use insecticidal soap or fungicide. • Water well 1-2 times per week until soil is completely moist
