Facts & Information • Osmium comes from the Greek word “osme” meaning “a smell”. • Osmium was discovered by a man named Smithson Tennant in 1803. • Osmium can be found in bearing river sands of North and South America. • Has a hexagonal crystal structure. • Is the heaviest known element. • Can be found in ores that contain platinum.
