  2. Who are the members of GLBTQ? • Homosexual: A person characterized with a sexual desire for their own gender • Transsexual: Transsexual people identify as, or desire to live and be accepted as, a member of the sex opposite to that assigned at birth. • Transgender: People who were assigned a sex, usually at birth and based on their genitals, but who feel that this is a false or incomplete description of themselves or non-identification with, or non-presentation as, the sex (and assumed gender) one was assigned at birth • Pansexual/ Omnisexual: “Gender blind,” a person who is attracted to both sexes however sees no distinction between them • Bisexual: A person who is attracted to both sexes

  3. Does Bisexuality Really exist? • A study was preformed by a team of psychologists in Chicago and Torontoto test whether bisexuality is a distinct and stable sexual orientation • People who claim that they are bisexual, according to this team, are usually homosexual, but are ambivalent about their homosexuality or simply closeted • In the study, the psychologists directly measured genital arousal patterns in response to images of men and women. The psychologists found that men who identified themselves as bisexual were in fact exclusively aroused by either one sex or the other, usually by other men • The study is the largest of several small reports suggesting that the estimated 1.7 percent of men who identify as bisexual showed different results than what they claimed would occur

  4. What are some different teenage opinions on homosexuality Q: How would you react if your best friend told you he/she was gay? A: “I wouldn’t respect them. If I found out Tyrone was gay, I’d say, OK dude, it’s all right. Then I go behind his back, tell my boys, and we jump him.” –Carlos Singh, 16 “I would support them. They would still be my best friend. Unless they make a pass at me.” –Julie Persard, 16 “I would say get the f—k out my face, I don’t want to see you no more. That’s if it was a girl. If it was a boy I would say that he has problems and he’s supposed to like girls.” –Sharolott Specer, 15

  5. -Cont. Q: Do you have gay people in your school? Gay teachers? A: “We have gay teachers in my school. I think that’s bad because they’re the first to say that they have to set an example and just look at the example they’re setting for us.” –Alejandro Castro, 18

  6. Myths and Facts About Homosexuality Myth: Lesbian and guys are sex-crazed people who will jump at the chance to rape you Fact: There are many other aspects to homosexual lives then sex, as is the same for heterosexuals Myth: It’s easy to tell if someone is gay. “Gay men dress like women and sound like women. Gay women lift weights, wear flannel shirts, and cut their hair short.” Fact: Homosexuals don’t fit into any one description or type-they are as varied in appearance as heterosexuals. Some fit the stereotype but not all.
