(Headline score 64) Every once a while, you get that feeling in your gut that your career has come to a standstill and is making no further gateway. Your professional career has reached a dead-end, and there is nothing new or fresh to dedicate your mind to learning it. Now if you are a Java Developer or someone who is engaged in providing java web application development services, this article is a must read for you as this article focuses on why you should make a switch from being a Java developer to being a Hadoop Consultant. Java was a very amazing career to foray into up until a few years back when the entire IT sector had reached its zenith. However, like it is with technology, Java became outdated, and new technology has become the talk of the town which is Hadoop. In this article, I shall offer reasons as to why you being a Java Developer should switch over and become someone who offers Hadoop Consulting Services or is a Hadoop Consultant. 1.HADOOP DEVELOPERS ARE IN MORE DEMAND THAN JAVA DEVELOPERS Almost everyone in the IT Industry today is acquainted or knows about Java. However the same cannot be said about Hadoop Developers. Since it is an up and coming technological marvel,

Furthermore, when you become a Hadoop or a Big Data developer and also learn about Big Data Analytics along the way, it makes you stand out among the crowd. 2.JAVA DEVELOPERS have the edge over OTHER PROFESSIONALS IN LEARNING HADOOP A developer who usually codes in Java will find it much easier for himself to learn about Hadoop and also he would be able to understand the finer aspects of a specific module which the other professionals would face trouble over. For example, High-Level Abstractions like Hive and Pig are provided in the Apache Frameworks. Now HiveQL and Pig Latin are usually used for programming in Hive and Pig respectively, and in the end in Java, both of them are reduced and transformed into MapReduce applications. Now although Developers do have the option to use streaming to reduce the functions and write the map in a language of their choice, there are certain advanced features present in Hadoop that can be used only via a Java API which in turn directly gives Java Developers an edge over the other developers who do not know Java. Hence the reason for the golden term being quoted in the IT industry that Java is a necessary language to know for learning Big Data/Hadoop. 3.SKILL GAP AND HIGH WAGES The organizations and companies are searching for developers with knowledge of Big Data and ready to compensate these developers very well. And since the introduction of Hadoop, almost every major company has switched over to Hadoop, and thus there is a gap in demand and supply. There is a demand for Hadoop Developers in the market, and there is a dearth of Hadoop Developers in the market. The dearth and the payment for Hadoop developers is such that even developers from other fields who are not proficient with either Java or Hadoop are also making an effort to learn the language and take advantage of this unique opportunity 4.STAYING AHEAD IN THE MARKET These days IT experts are exceptionally wary about the present economic situations; they are moving from the more prevalent and outdated technology like Java to the most recent technologies like Hadoop to remain in the challenge. Even fresher’s are likewise mindful of the market; as opposed to beginning the profession in outdated technologies, they rather incline toward the most recent and up and coming field like Big Data and Hadoop, to begin with. 5.LAYOFFS In the IT world, layoffs are extremely commonplace. Thus it is recommended that you make a move to switch over to Hadoop considering that learning Hadoop will be much easier for you being a Java Developer.
