Reactive oxygen species(ROS) are constantly generated under normal conditions as a consequence of aerobicmetabolism. • ROS include free radicals such as the superoxide anion(O2.-), the hydroxyl radical(HO.), and the nonradical hydrogen peroxide(H2O2).
To cope with the deleterious effects of reactive oxygen species, aerobic organisms are equipped with antioxidant enzymes. • More than a decade ago, a novel family of peroxidases named peroxiredoxins (Prxs) emerged. (Chae,etc.1994)

What I will do? 1.使用alignment in EBIand using GeneDoc in PSC ,為了比對PeroxiredoxinⅠ~Ⅵ胺基酸序列的特異性及保留性,與功能的關係。 2. 利用Swiss pdb Viewer軟體及網頁搜尋的PDB ID檔,來觀察PeroxiredoxinⅤ與分子內或分子間的交互作用(interaction),與酵素活性的關係。
What I will do? 3.使用上述的方法,來討論我們實驗室利用不同的物種cloning出來的Peroxiredoxin與分子生物學研究結果的相關性。
