  6. Government Jamaica has a constitutional parliament democracy government. This government supports music by allowing people to party in the streets.

  7. Religion Religions popular to this area are Rastafarianism, and Christianity. Rastafarianism originated in Jamaica. Music is used in almost all religious celebrations.

  8. Sarangi • The Sarangi is a bowed string instrument of Jamaican classical music tradition. • It is said to most resemble the human voice.

  14. The guitar is a musical instrument with ancient roots that is used in a wide variety of musical styles. It is not originally from Jamaica. Guitar

  15. Graters In tropical nations, graters are also used to grate coconut meat. In Jamaica, a coconut grater is used as a traditional musical instrument

  16. Vocal Music • There vocal singing is different then we think it would be. It is loud and has many voices. • Vocal music is used in almost all celebrations. • When singing they dance or play an instrument. • The music they sing is memorized or just improvised.

  17. Bob Marley’s original name is Robert Nesta Marley. Somehow along the way he ended up with Bob Marley. With his Rastafarian religion his signature colors were red, white, and green He was a singer/ songwriter/ activist/ prophet for his religion. He is one of the most famous Jamaicans. He really changed Reggae music history with his electric guitar and stunning vocals. Later in life he was flying over Miami in his plane and become very ill. He was taken to Cedars of Lebanon hospital but it was to late. His last words were to his son Ziggy and they were “Money can’t buy life” Bob Marley
