Before configuring the AOL Mail on Microsoft Outlook configuration, choose your incoming server protocol; POP or IMAP. POP stands for Post Office Protocol that downloads the mail from the server for permanent local storage. IMAP is a server protocol that downloads a copy of the emails from the server and caches emails locally on the email clients. Moreover, IMAP is a form of cloud storage, and you can access your emails whenever required from any device/client. Carry out these steps to configure an AOL Mail account on Outlook: • You need to open the Windows desktop first and navigate to Microsoft Outlook 2016/2016/2013/2010 since the steps for setting the AOL mail are the same for those Outlook versions. • Click on the File tab from the menu bar and select Info that is available on the left side panel. • Click the Add Account button and enter your AOL mail address in the text box. • After entering the full email address, click the Connect button. • Type your AOL email account password in the Password text field and click Connect followed by the Done button. • The above step is to configure your AOL Mail automatically using the preferred mail servers for outlook configuration. • If you wish to configure your AOL Mail manually, click the File tab and select Info. • Click the Add Account icon and mark the Manual setup or additional server type type checkbox. • Click the Next button and select either POP or IMAP under the Choose Service tab. • Now, fill up the details on the POP and IMAP Account Settings window. • Under the User Information section, enter your desired name and type your AOL mail address. • In the Server Information field, click the Account Type pull-down menu and select either POP or IMAP. • Make sure the same account type is chosen under Account Type and Choose Service tabs. • Type “pop.aol.com” in the Incoming mail server field if you have selected POP as your account type and then do outlook configuration.
