Before configuring the AOL Mail on Microsoft Outlook configuration, choose your incoming server protocol; POP or IMAP. POP stands for Post Office Protocol that downloads the mail from the server for permanent local storage. IMAP is a server protocol that downloads a copy of the emails from the server and caches emails locally on the email clients.
