LEADER program in Europe • TheLEADER from the early 1990s as a pilot project to support integrated activities at local level. • LEADER I - In 1992 - first opportunity to support financially these activities (200 LAGs) • 1994 – 1999 LEADER II involvedalready some 1,000 LAGs.This phase of the program was considered very successful in terms of job creation in rural areas, the emergence of new innovative regional products and services, as well as added value in rural areas. • LEADER + (2000 – 2006) The success of the project continued, European Commission allowedMember States to use the LEADER approach as part of the main programming documents forfor rural development. • 2007 – 2013 LEADER numberofLAGsstillincreasing • 2014 – 2020 CLLD –communitylead local development
