So what does an Individual Career Plan have to do with Academic Success?
Individual Career Plan • Plan Early • As early as 8th grade, students should develop a six-year plan. (Frome and Dunham 2002) • Increase in % of students who received help to develop a 4-year educational plan was significantly related to increase in math test scores. (Frome 2001)
Individual Career Plan • Plan Often • Amount of help from counselor to plan high school program was positively related to the number of college-prep math and sciences classes. (Frome and Dunham 2002) • 2004 HSTW Study: only 55 % of students met to review their plan at least annually, and those students had significantly higher achievement than other students.
The future belongs to those who prepare for it today. Malcolm X
