Event Mixing • What we have always had in simulation • Event mixing at PISA hits level • Use a background file, say from HIJING central events • Mix in one or more signal files, with dual input streamsinto STAF chain which makes PRDFs • Determine one’s tracking efficiencies, resolutions, cluster finding capability, etc., by comparing event mixed results with stand-alone results; used extensively in MDC2 • What we need new in reality • Event mixing at the PRDF level for better realism • Use experimental background PRDF (high multiplicity) • Mix in either low multiplicity PRDF event, ORsimulation signal event
PRDF Event Mixing Working Model • Assume (at first) one only has PRDFs • NO GEANT information to help you with mixing! • Working only at the PRDF chain modepermits mixing of two experimental PRDFs • Main goal is to look at efficiencies? • Major problem is how to “add” the DCM data • Same physical channel is hit in both PRDFs • How does the subsystem accommodate adding analog signalsand adjusting the TDC results, as relevant? • Working model produced for Pad Chambers (easiest to do) • Technical considerations • Don’t want to have to use/modify existing PIO software? • Don’t want repeated code in different modules,e.g. want to have DCM unpacker code in only one module
PRDF Event Mixing Specifications • When do we need it? • When can we get it done? • What are the actual goals? • What kind of compromises arenecessary and/or acceptable? • Two PRDF input (less accurate, simpler?) • GEANT & PRDF + Real PRDF (more accurate, harder?) • Plan initial prototypes from subsystems • Drift Chamber, Pad Chamber, EMCal • Other subsystems will build on these prototypes
