  5. VANOC and The Government of Canada: working hand-in-hand • Coordination by Federal Secretariat • More than 30 departments and agencies engaged to deliver the Games • Issues being managed together range from tax remission to weather services

VANOC and The Government of Canada: The numbers (1) • To date, the Government of Canada has contributed: • $290 million for infrastructure projects related to sport and event venues • $20 million to help offset the operating costs of the Paralympic Winter Games • $55 million to establish a Legacy Endowment Fund • $20 million for the Celebration Sites Program and $20 million for Opening Ceremonies • $35 million towards the 2010 Olympic and Paralympic Winter Games Federal Secretariat

VANOC and The Government of Canada: The numbers (2) • $24.5 million for the Olympic and Paralympic Torch Relays • $26 million for the Canadian Tourism Commission • $34.55 million for First Nations Olympic Legacy Agreements • $2 million towards the Four Host First Nations Society • $127.6 million (CAD) for federal essential services such as security, immigration, and border services • $7.7 million to support Official Languages • Total funds committed: $662.35 million

Ceremonies • Olympic Winter Games Opening and Closing Ceremonies First time in Olympic Games history the Olympic Opening/Closing Ceremonies will be staged indoors • Paralympic Winter Games Opening Ceremony (BC Place), Closing  Ceremony (Whistler) • Nightly Victory Ceremonies BC Place (Vancouver) • Celebration sites FHFNs, Provinces and Territories, Richmond Surrey, Vancouver, West Vancouver, Whistler
