General Characteristics • Exoskeleton made of chitin without a waxy cuticle. • Respiration is through gills. • Crustaceans are the only group of arthropods that typically live in water. • Crustaceans are highly segmented. More derived forms are tagmatized and show fewer, more specialized, limbs.
