Personal Statement“Why I Want to Teach” By: Mackenzie Crowe
Standard #3: Learning Environments • The teacher works with others to create environments that support individual and collaborative learning, and that encourage positive social interaction, active engagement in learning, and self-motivation. • Name of Artifact: Personal StatementDate:March 21Course:EDUC. 101 Brief DescriptionI started this Personal Statement, by first focusing on what my pedagogy would be. “A pedagogy is the art and science of teaching; all that you know and believe about teaching (Kosh, p. 72).” I then applied that to what I would want my learning environment to be like in my classroom.RationaleTo document my understanding of Standard 3: Learning Environments, I have chosen to create this power point on my personal Statement. This document describes the positive and fun learning environment I plan to have within my classroom.
Reasons for Wanting to Teach “A teacher’s purpose is not to create students in his or her own image, but to develop students who can create their own image (Kosh, p. 78).” I want to teach to give other students a positive learning experience. Making others happy is all I ever strive for in life and knowing I am making a difference everyday is worth it. I want to give others a strong role model to look up to when they feel like giving up. I want to be positive reinforcement to the future students and have fun while doing it.

Community Characteristics • Compassion- A community who is considerate of others feelings and situations. • Initiative- A community who puts forth the effort to make the learning experience a positive one for students. • Teamwork- A community who works well together and is more of a family than a community. • Optimistic- A community who is open minded and open to trying new things.
Contributions to the Profession I will contribute my whole self to the profession of teaching. Wherever I am, the students’ learning experience will be my number one priority. I will teach them in fun and different ways, so that the material stays interesting. I will always bring new ideas to my community and students on how to make a better environment for everyone. I will meet all of the needs of my students and community by being compassionate and open to all who needs advice and guidance.
