Recycling Why is recycling important?
Energy The amount of energy needed to make new materials is more than if we recycled. Just recycling aluminum cans we can save about 91% of energy.
Reduce • Buy only what you need • Buy what can be used later in another project (containers, rechargeable batteries) • Buy all-purpose cleaners ( one to do the jobs, instead of many for one purpose) • Sell or give-away unused items • Only use paper when needed (email as much as possible, News Letters, Updates, etc.)
Reuse • You can flip paper over and use it for notes, printing, and crafts • Cardboard, bubblewrap, newspapers, can be used for packing. • Jars can be used to hold utensils (pens, kitchen stuff, etc.) • Plastic or paper bags can be reused back at the store, garbage bins, even wrapping paper.
