  2. Sometimes you increase the quotient Mrs. Pudwill puts 4 old post cards on each page of her scrapbook. How many pages does she need for 49 post cards? Twelve pages will hold 48 cards. Another page is needed for the extra 1 post card. Mrs. Pudwill needs 13 pages.

  3. Sometimes you drop the remainder An exhibit of old post cards is on display at a museum for 79 days. How many full weeks is that? There are 7 days in a week. So 79 days will be only 11 weeks and 2 days. 79 days is only 11 full weeks.

  4. Sometimes the remainder is the answer. Mrs. Pudwill has 86 post cards. She divided them equally among 4 children and keeps the extras. How many cards does she keep? Each child will get 21 cards. There are 2 extra for Mrs. Pudwill. The remainder is the answer. Mrs. Pudwill keeps 2 post cards.
