Transcript Review Are you on track to graduate? If you have any credits in the needed column, do you have a plan with your counselor (night school, virtual scholars)? Do you have PE credits that aren’t showing up? For example, dance Look at Graduation Requirements- Test History – Have you met reading, writing, and math? If no, are you in an essential skills? My Plan and Resume you will be doing during PSAT day, so be here! CRLE, have you completed both? If no, get it done!
Oregon Promise Basics Your EFC (Expected Family Contribution, which it determined by your FAFSA application) must be under $18,000to qualify for the Oregon Promise.

FEW THINGS YOU NEED TO KNOW ABOUT... Studying the arts in college 1- You have many options if you want to study art, theater, music or dance in college. 2- Accreditation matters. You want a school that’s regionally accredited as well as nationally accredited for your specific program. 3- Schools may require a portfolio, artist statement, interview or audition. Joining the Military Joining the Military (Army, Marine Corps, Navy, Air Force or Coast Guard) is a big decision. Think carefully and talk with your family as well as representatives from the Military. They will be coming to FHS on three dates. October 18 at lunch January 1o at lunch April 11 at lunch There is money to help pay for college if you serve. Military academies (such as West Point) are extremely elite. You need a congressional letter of recommendation to apply and must commit to at least five years of service.

Naviance Presentation Directions 1. Go to Franklin website - Google it. 2. Go to Quick Links on the left. Click on NAVIANCE and this takes you to the Naviance homepage. 3. If you have already established a Naviance account, login. Username is probably your email including the @yahoo, gmail, etc. Password may be your ID # with or without your initials. 4. If you never don’t know your login or you’ve never used Naviance before , come to one of us for assistance at our laptop when I am through with the directions. 5. Scholarship Search
Steps to request a Letter of Recommendation from School Counselors Request early! How early? Go to “About Me” tab in Naviance. You will see links on the left hand side which you must complete. These include: • The Request for Counselor Letter of Recommendation • Two Teacher Checklists which you will give to be completed by teachers who are NOT already writing your letters of recommendation Schedule a Meeting with your Counselor –Only after you have completed all of the above items.

Important Reminders/Tips • Common Application can be complicated. For example; - If you are applying using the Common Application, you must match it to your Naviance account in order to submit ANYTHING! - Not all schools use the Common Applications. For a complete list, please see the poster in the College & Career Center. • Know your deadlines and plan ahead!!! Especially for letters of rec. Example, if your application deadline is October 15th, you need to have spoken to your counselor and gathered the materials by October 1st (see chart).
